CALGARY, CANADA – JANUARY 14, 2009 – RAD3 Communications Inc. (RAD3), a communications intellectual property (IP) company, today announced the acquisition of the IP assets of Cygnus Communications Canada (Cygnus). RAD3 has acquired the Cygnus IP assets to accelerate the development of its wired and wireless communications IP products.

Under the terms of the agreement RAD3 has exclusively acquired the software intellectual property of Cygnus. The functionality covered by the acquired IP is far ranging and consists of 

• Reference system designs for WiMax and other wireless standards including Software Defined Radio and FPGA/ASIC modem implementations.
• A suite of fundamental signal processing cores including Viterbi, Reed-Solomon and FFT cores
• Encryption/Decryption Cores.

The majority of the IP is silicon proven and in production in numerous communication products world-wide. In addition, RAD3 has also purchased several fundamental patents which underline the purchased IP and state-of-the art software tools used for IP development.
