Calgary, Canada –May 11, 2009 – RAD3 Communications Inc. (RAD3), a communications intellectual property (IP) company, today announced the acquisition of the LDPC IP assets of Raithlin Semiconductor Inc (Raithlin) and the addition of Dr. Stephen Bates, Raithlin’s CEO, to RAD3’s Board of Advisors.
RAD3 has acquired state-of-the-art Low Density Parity Check (LDPC) error correction technology and production ready LDPC IP cores for multiple satellite and terrestrial wireless standards. The LDPC cores cover the following standards:
- CMMB: An LDPC decoder for the China Multimedia Mobile Broadcast (CMMB) standard for the Satellite Terrestrial Interactive Multi-service (STiMi)
- DVB-S2: An LDPC Decoder for the Digital Video Broadcast Satellite standard
- WiMax: An LDPC Decoder for the WiMax 802.16e standard
In addition, Raithlin’s LDPC engineering development team has joined RAD3 in order to continue the development of the LDPC decoder technology. Several new cores are expected to be launched in during the remainder of the year.
